Chaco National Park.

In 2021 Helen was invited to paint an educational mural in the Chaco National Park in Argentina in support of the National Park’s reintroduction of the Bare-Faced Currasow. The mural is located in the “Public Use” area of the park alongside the visitor centre and picnic areas. The above photo was taken some years later when two Currasows were spotted just meters from the mural.

The mural.

“Moitu” is the local name for the Bare-Faced Currasow. The mural shows the female (left) and male (right) with their distinctive plumages and crests.

The text to the right states: “Natural Monument of the Chaco province. An inhabitant of our riparian forest, which is in danger of extinction“.
